Friday Night is film night!
We’re delighted to be taking part in the Purbeck Film Festival again this year.
The film will be ‘Past Lives’ – an American / Korean film highly recommended by our very own Olivia Hetreed!
Celine Song’s beautifully crafted debut film tells a decades-spanning love story preoccupied with all the fine details of life that decide the destination of one’s adulthood. The things we decide for ourselves and those that are chosen for us, the people you know now and those you once knew, the feelings that fade and the ones that remain with achingly sharp clarity. It is not a failed love story, but it is a lost love story, as its characters fall victim to the realities of time and circumstance and are left wondering what may have been if either of those things had been different.
“Past Lives isn’t quite the woozy, lovelorn drama that its trailers have sold… But it is an eloquent attempt to understand how our memories can end up turning other people into projection screens for our own, confused desires.” The Independent
“Past Lives may be a weepie, but it’s a hyper-sophisticated one.” The FT
“Song finds the political in the personal and avoids seeming indulgent or niche.” London Evening Standard.
There will be a pay bar and we will be serving Korean Rice Bowls on the night.
You can pre-book your meal on the Purbeck Film Festival website.
