The Coombe Keynes Trust
Who we are and what we do
The Coombe Keynes Trust is a charity dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the Church of the Holy Rood for the benefit of the local community.
The local Church of England diocese decided to close the Church in the 1970s but a group of villagers formed the Trust to save the building for future generations.
The Trust owns the church building but not the churchyard, which is still in use. This is now the responsibility of the local parish priest in Wool. However, the Trust looks after the upkeep of the churchyard in return for a small financial contribution from the Church of England.
The Trust hosts regular events throughout the year to bring the community together and to fundraise for the upkeep of the church. Our flagship event is the Coombe Keynes 10k, a popular trail race beginning and ending in the village centre and looping through the beautiful neighbouring Lulworth estate. Alongside this, we host social events such as Harvest Suppers, Summer BBQs, skittles nights, talks and workshops.
Find out more about the history and origins of the Trust, please see this article by founder member Peter Brachi.
Membership of the Trust is by annual subscription. Find out more here.
Membership subs alone don’t cover the cost of the upkeep of the church so donations are always gratefully received

The Church is available for hire, with CKT members receiving a discount on our rates.
The Trust operates as a CIO and text of our full constitution can be found here.
